“The princess awoke from her peaceful slumber to an array of whimsical wonders. On this most special occasion, her twenty-second birthday, she deigned to fill it with everything that would allow her fairytale heart to fly. She wore her most elegant rose pink gown with a tulle skirt which fluttered and floated around her like fairy wings. Draped over her princess gown, she adorned herself with a beautiful bow capelet which transformed her into a modern-day Grace Kelly…”
Hello fairy blossoms, I hope you are well and taking care of yourself. As I write this post I’m listening to the Princess Waltz from the Princess Diaries score album…
I thought it would be apt to listen to such a fairytale-inspired score as I detail each magical moment from my 22nd birthday.
We celebrated on 27th April at home, in self-isolation. Admittedly, this is not how I anticipated spending my birthday.
We had originally booked a special reservation for the Peggy Porschen afternoon tea at the Lanesborough Hotel. Nevertheless, although I missed out on this beautiful occasion, I still had the most magical birthday at home.
In fact, it was one of the best I’ve ever had! It just goes to show that you can have wonderful time, it just depends on your mindset…
Appreciating the little moments is so important, especially in this situation and I approached the day as something to be grateful for…
I hope this post can whisk you away to a whimsical world filled with all things princessy and pink!
I wanted to ensure that I was surrounded by the things that bring me joy…
Whether that is achieved by wearing your most treasured dress, taking time to immerse yourself in nature or indulging in your favourite sweet treat, there are so many ways to have a princess-like birthday at home…
Remember to hold your head high ~ don’t let your tiara fall my sweet princesses…
Begin your day by treating your skin to the skincare products of dreams; I use gentle hands to apply my Dior Hydra Life milk cleanser followed by the Lancôme Hydra Zen moisturiser for a soft angelic glow.
Applying your favourite beauty products to your fresh-faced, princess canvas is so much fun! Why not add a sprinkle of sparkle with a diamond highlighter from Too Faced? I also decided to use the stunning shimmery shadow snowfake all over my lids for a cinderella shimmer from their Christmas Cookie House Party Palette .
Dressing up is my favourite step and there’s nothing I love more than adorning my head with an elegant tiara.
I’m planning on having my own little collection (I’m currently hearted eyed over this sweet tiara) I purchased my golden crown from JJ’s House ~ it is so regal and reminds me of Aurora who is my favourite princess.
The gown I decided to wear was my Marinela dress from Chi Chi London.
I adore this brand so much and they always have the prettiest, affordable princess pieces.
The dress features a fluttering floral appliqué bodice with a floating tulle skirt.
To complete my princess-inspired look, I decided to add my faux fur bow capelet from the No.1 Jenny Packham collection. I purchased this beautiful cape last summer and it has become a wardrobe favourite of mine – they’re so dreamy and add a soft touch of Old Hollywood glamour to your look.
The one I have featured is in a soft peachy pink shade with a satin bow. I also recently purchased another one in a snowy white shade as I’m planning on creating another instalment of my style diaries series, which will be inspired by Grace Kelly.
Once clothed in an angelic gown, we decided to take a morning walk amongst the cherry blossoms. My heart is winging for them to arrive again soon but it was magical to gaze at their beauty before they faded away… It was wonderful to channel my inner Briar Rose and hear the birds peacefully humming their sweet spring melody…
After our walk, it was time for my morning snack and because it was my birthday, I finally decided to try the Charbonnel et Walker Pink Champagne Truffles.
They were a gorgeous gift from my mother on Valentine’s Day but I decided to save them for my birthday. It was a significant moment for me, as this was my first piece of chocolate in six years. I still can’t quite believe I tried one but it tasted beautiful.
The delicate strawberry and white chocolate shell is filled with an indulgent champagne de marc centre. Whilst sampling this dainty delicacy, I decided to watch my favourite disney film, Sleeping Beauty.
After this early morning indulgence, it was time to open my gifts. This is always a moment of magic and I’m forever grateful for anything I receive as I often feel unworthy…
This year I was truly spoilt with some of the gifts I received from my parents but I also treated myself to some items too.
I’m going to share a full blog post containing my recent princess purchases very soon…
Each item was beautifully wrapped up in pretty pink candy-stripe and sweet swan gift-wrap. It makes the process of unwrapping gifts so much more special and it becomes a lovely moment to immerse yourself in so that you can release your inner child.
In the afternoon I spent some time talking with my family and watching my favourite ballet performances. Soon it was time for my afternoon snack and I decided to try a slice of the birthday cake I made.
I decided to create one with an elegant design and I have called it my Marie Antoinette (my dear friend Freya reminded me that it looked like something she would eat)
The cake consists of a fluffy vanilla sponge, vanilla bean buttercream, strawberry jam which is covered in white fondant, sugar flowers and finished with a satin ribbon and lace trim detailing.
It does resemble a wedding cake but I thought this would add to the regal appearance.
I had a slice with a cup of Ladurée breakfast tea whilst watching Marie Antoinette to feel like a modern-day princess.
One way in which you could brighten your special day at home is by hosting a regal tea party with your favourite pieces of fine china. I started collecting pieces from the Royal Albert New Country Roses Pink range last year and I recently added their tea pot to my collection. I also have the matching tea plate, dinner plate, tea cup and saucer.
Peonies are my favourite flowers and I was so delighted when my mother surprised me with a bouquet on my birthday.
I couldn’t resist capturing a photograph them in all their beauty as they sat on top of my French-inspired chest of drawers…
Ladurèe macarons are my favourite and I was overjoyed when I discovered they offer home delivery!
I decided to order an assortment of my favourite flavours in their pistachio green Incontournable gift box.
They look as though they have been delivered from the shop in Paris…
The flavours I selected were… rose, vanilla and strawberry candy which are utterly delightful!
Inside the box I also received a miniature macaron menu which details the array of dreamy flavours.
Treating yourself to a sweet indulgence which you wouldn’t splurge on regularly, can be such a lovely idea for your birthday!
I decided to sample some of my dainty delicacies whilst watching my favourite Audrey films.
I love to daydream about being in Paris, wearing the dreamiest Needle and Thread, sipping on tea and sampling delicious desserts in Ladurée on the Champs-Élysées.
As this blog post follows a magical, fairytale theme, I decided to create a set of adorable set of Cinderella-inspired wallpapers using Haute Glam Design’s dreamy ‘pink princess’ graphic set.
I hope this post has inspired you in some way darlings. Please let me know what your favourite fairytale is and how you plan to celebrate your future birthdays at home?
I’m sending lots of love to you all,
