“My hands pluck the things I know that I’ll need
I take the sugar and butter from the pantry
I add the flour to begin what I am hoping to start
and then it’s down with the recipe
and bake from the heart…”
Baking is something I deeply treasure ~ it whisks me away to another place and often acts as a form of therapy for me.
Carefully measuring out each ingredient, sifting them and watching each component come together as they rise up in the oven is a magical experience…
Whether its a batch of sweet vanilla cupcakes or a warming apple pie, there is something so comforting about the freshly baked scent!
I know that for many of us, when our lives feel out of control, it can be reassuring to immerse ourselves in an activity that provides us with a semblance of order in a chaotic life.
The world is currently filled with so much anguish and I have always wanted to ensure that my blog remains a safe place that you can visit to forget about your worries for a while.
However, before I delve into the main content of this post, I would like to let you know how you can help to support black lives during this devastating time. There are many important petitions to sign so I have created a link list which you can use and remember to check my Instagram story highlights – I have a folder dedicated to Black Lives Matter and it contains a lot of useful information I’ve been creating and sharing. *any of the commissions from this post will be donated to the Stephen Lawrence Trust and UNICEF’s donation page for the crisis in Yemen*
In this post I’m finally sharing with you the Kitchenaid Mixer which I received as a gift for my 22nd birthday in April.
This is most definitely the mixer of my dreams and it has been on my wish list for quite a few years. Using her for the first time was a magical experience and I thought I would share a little review with you all…
Kitchenaid is a classic appliance brand – their products are instantly recognisable and they have gradually transformed into the créme de la créme of kitchenware.
I first fell in love with them whilst watching The Great British Bake Off and ever since, I have spotted them in many dreamy kitchens…
One of my favourites is Manuela’s from the blog passionforbaking ~ she has a 1950s inspired diner and it is truly stunning.
Kitchenaid has a 1950s inspired allure which only adds to its charm. When I have my own kitchen, I hope to decorate it with pretty pastel decor.
You can purchase the mixers in an array of different shades but unfortunately I’ve struggled to find the pink silk mixer in stock! However, I did find a baby blue one which is just as dreamy.
Originally, I was hoping to have a mixer in their classic baby pink shade but this colour is so difficult to find. Nevertheless, when I spotted the pink silk shade, I fell in love. It is the prettiest pearlescent pink with a dreamy sheen – I decided to call her Petal and I have been using her so much recently that I thought I would share with you some of the recipes I’ve been loving…
Although its a dream come true to have a Kitchenaid mixer, I understand that they’re not in everyone’s price range. I was lucky to receive this as a gift but I wouldn’t have been able to afford the splurge myself! I think this classic baby pink SMEG mixer is also beautiful and the price-tag isn’t as high!
Nevertheless, the Kitchenaid is definitely worth the investment, particularly if you bake often or bake as your career. Before purchasing, it is worth remembering that it takes up quite a lot space so make sure to measure everything beforehand! I also decided to purchase a lovely clear cover with a pink rim so I can ensure it remains protected. At the side of the mixer there are settings for speed and it mixes so smoothly! The head also tilts upwards so that you can easily switch attachments without much hassle.
The mixer arrived with so many useful attachments which was a lovely surprise ~ it even cam with its own little ice-cream mixer which I can’t wait to use…
4.8l stainless steel bowl & 3l stainless steel bowl
Pouring shield
Wire whisk ~ for whipping up light and airy meringues and cream
Dough hook ~ for kneading dough
Flat beater ~ general purpose mixing beater
Flex-edge beater ~ for superior mixing results. The flex-edge scrapes the inside of the bowl as it passes negating the need to scrape down ingredients with a spatula
I’m hoping to share a baking tutorial on my youtube channel with the mixer soon – just let me know what you’d like to see!
I’m sending lots of love to you all,
